Everybody, 90's Smurf Music is back, Alright!

Smurfs Are Back, Alright!

It’s definitely back to the nineties and nillies for the beloved blue icons, as Peyo Company and Magic Star announce a new global digital distribution deal for the rich and devilishly catchy Smurfs music catalogue. This April, the hills will Smurf again with the sound of music as the beloved songs are set to become available across streaming platforms as part of the agreement with Magic Star.

This includes the distribution of several albums in multiple languages, from English to Czech, Hungarian, Icelandic, Polish, Slovak and Spanish. All titles will become available across streaming platforms in the following months, with the first English albums (including fan-favorite “The Smurfs Go POP!”) dropping in the next few weeks on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, Youtube, QQ, Kugou and Pandora.

For those too young to remember, the craze began in Europe in the mi-nineties. Blending Eurodance covers of popular hits with high-pitched, parody vocals, the Smurf-themed songs quickly grew in popularity as their success expanded across the continent, before becoming global.

Smurf covers of the 90s and 2000s were adapted to be innocent and Smurf-themed, full of love, friendship and “smurfing”. Covered artists included the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys, transforming chart-toppers into snappy children's dance, with many becoming smash hits themselves, with dozens of albums adapted to multiple territories and languages. Going into the 2000s, this Smurfing European trend continued with various holiday albums, as the blue loveable characters smurfed Birthdays, Christmas and ecstatic children parties alike.

You know it. Your children know it. It’s time to Get Smurfin’ Again!
